Isaac Mizrahi reflects on the restoration of ‘Unzipped’ documentary
Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi is reflecting on the restoration of ‘Unzipped,’ the 1995 documentary that captured his rise to prominence during the planning of his fall 1994 collection. Directed by his then-boyfriend Douglas Keeves, the film was a hit at Sundance before being acquired by Miramax.
Mizrahi expressed mixed emotions regarding the restoration, noting a personal reluctance to revisit the past. The 73-minute film features appearances by various fashion figures, including Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and the late André Leon Talley.
Mizrahi also shared anecdotes regarding actress Faye Dunaway, who appeared in the film during a fitting for several suits. He noted that the documentary's length was shorter than originally intended due to rights issues regarding footage from ‘Mommy Dearest.’
