Isaac Slade addresses Gaza conflict at Ed Sheeran concert
During Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour concert at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on October 3, Isaac Slade, frontman of The Fray, appeared as a special guest to address the global political climate. Slade spoke about the conflict in Gaza, stating that while “what’s happening over there [in Gaza] is wrong,” there is a need for people to find “common ground” and “step into that middle place.”
The appearance follows recent controversy surrounding the tour. Support acts, including Finneas and Lukas Graham, previously left the tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was removed from the lineup after making pro-Palestine comments during performances in New Jersey.
Sheeran has addressed the backlash during recent shows, expressing regret over the situation. To maintain his performances following the departure of his original support acts and backing band, Sheeran has recently utilized new musicians, such as violinist Alicia Enstrom, to assist with live renditions of his songs.
