Isabel Coixet film ‘Trois adieux’ explores resilient end-of-life

The film ‘Trois adieux’ is being released in theaters, serving as an adaptation of the final collection of short stories by Italian author Michela Murgia. Murgia passed away from cancer in Rome in 2023 at the age of 51.

Directed by Isabel Coixet and written by Enrique Audenino, the film follows a continuous narrative of a woman facing the end of her life. Starring Alba Rohrwacher, the story focuses on a resilient and joyful approach to survival despite advancing illness. Rather than focusing on physical suffering, the film is described by Coixet as an ‘appel à vivre’ (call to live), emphasizing the vital impulse and the desire to die peacefully, happily, and freely.
