Isabel Henderson Kindergarten Children Escape in Fitzroy North, Victoria

Two children, a four‑year‑old girl and a five‑year‑old boy, escaped from Isabel Henderson Kindergarten in Fitzroy North, Melbourne, on Monday morning. CCTV captured them running and skipping down St Georges Road, covering more than a kilometre before reaching one of their homes.

A passerby followed the pair, urged another stranger to call the police, and continued to track the children until they entered a home. The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority opened an investigation, and kindergarten director Anna Tibb announced an internal probe and the installation of temporary fencing after it was discovered the children had removed brush fencing to exit the playground. The children later watched the animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” at home.

Police and regulators are reviewing the safety of the early‑learning facility’s playground to prevent future incidents.
