Isabel Pardo de Vera defends railway contract in Spain's Koldo case

Former ADIF president Isabel Pardo de Vera remains under investigation in the Koldo corruption case, which concerns alleged irregular railway contracts in Asturias. The focus is on a work to stabilise the slopes of the line between Gijón and Pravia, originally budgeted at €489,300 and awarded to Levantina Ingeniería y Construcción. The final amount paid was €373,405 plus an additional €71,424 under an extraordinary price‑review decree.

Pardo de Vera’s defence argues that the lower final cost demonstrates the absence of any rigging. The judge overseeing the investigation, Ismael Moreno, has referred the matter to the anti‑corruption prosecutor for a response. The case also implicates former PSOE official Santos Cerdán, who is alleged to have directed the alleged scheme.
