Isabel Sánchez-Arán wins bronze at Apnea World Championship

Spanish freediver Isabel Sánchez-Arán secured a bronze medal at the CMAS Apnea Outdoor World Championship 2026 held in Roatán, Honduras. Her achievement in the Free Immersion (FIM) category came after reaching a depth of 96 meters in 4 minutes and 5 seconds.

This result marks the third consecutive year Sánchez-Arán has reached the podium in a depth apnea world championship. During the competition, she also competed in new and existing modalities, including her first world championship using a monofin, where she finished fourth at a depth of 95 meters. She also placed fourth in the Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) discipline.

Sánchez-Arán had to abort a planned dive in the Constant Weight with Fins (CWTB) category after detecting an ear equalization issue, prioritizing safety over her goal of reaching 99 meters.
