Isabel Zuleta challenges legitimacy of President Abelardo de la Espriella

Senator Isabel Zuleta of the Pacto Histórico party has publicly questioned the legitimacy of President Abelardo de la Espriella. Zuleta, an opposition figure from Ituango, Antioquia, stated that her stance is shared by others within her political sphere.

During a radio interview, Zuleta argued that legitimacy is a “social construct” and a “popular construction” that is distinct from legal standing. She noted that while the administration holds legal status following the June 21 elections where De la Espriella defeated Iván Cepeda, she and others maintain arguments against his right to govern. Zuleta, a supporter of former president Gustavo Petro, has previously faced controversy regarding her public assertions concerning the current administration.
