Isabell Werth Finds Strength in Horses After Partner’s Death

German dressage legend Isabell Werth, an eight‑time Olympic champion, says the horses she rides are her "tank" for emotional energy after the death of her long‑time partner and father of her son, manager Wolfgang Urban, in the autumn of last year. Werth, 57, explained that caring for her 16‑year‑old son Frederik and staying active with her horses help her cope.

She will represent Germany at the World Dressage Championships in Aachen, which begin on 11 August, and expects her son to be by her side during the competition. Werth wishes for continued health and the ability to ride for many more years.
