Isabelle Hemsley appointed State Secretary in Hesse

Isabelle Hemsley is transitioning from local politics in Hanau to a state-level role as State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, Security, and Home Affairs, effective November 1.

Hanau Mayor Maximilian Bieri honored Hemsley for her extensive municipal service. Hemsley has been a significant figure in Hanau since 2011, serving in the city assembly and as chair of the CDU faction starting in 2016. Most recently, she served as a city councilor and as mayor since October 2026.

Bieri praised her contributions to infrastructure, digitalization, mobility, and security projects. He noted that despite being political competitors for the office of mayor, they maintained a respectful working relationship to address the city's needs.
