Isack Hadjar secures podium in Baku following injury return

Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar secured a third-place podium finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marking a successful return to Formula 1 after missing three races due to a wrist injury. The injury, a fracture sustained while boxing during the summer break, had sidelined him for the rounds in Zandvoort, Monza, and Madrid.

Red Bull team director Laurent Mekies praised Hadjar’s performance, describing it as ‘exceptional’ and noting his ability to maintain a competitive pace alongside teammate Max Verstappen. Hadjar demonstrated maturity by managing his tires and working strategically within the team dynamic.

Addressing rumors regarding his injury, Hadjar dismissed suggestions that Red Bull would impose restrictions on his extracurricular activities, stating, ‘I’m not five years old.’ While he acknowledged the need to be more cautious with boxing in the future, he confirmed he maintains autonomy over his hobbies. Red Bull has also confirmed Hadjar will remain with the team for the 2027 season.
