Isagen to acquire 360 MW Puerta de Oro solar project in Colombia
Isagen, a Colombian renewable power generator, has agreed to acquire 100% of the 360 MW Puerta de Oro solar project. The project is being sold by Patria Investments’ Infrastructure V fund and Ashmore Colombia, which held 75% and 25% stakes respectively.
Located in the Cundinamarca department, the Puerta de Oro solar park spans approximately 530 hectares and utilizes over 511,000 solar modules. It is expected to generate roughly 728 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power more than 390,000 homes. The acquisition is intended to help offset weak river flows caused by the El Niño weather pattern, which has impacted hydropower reservoir inflows.
The transaction is signed but remains subject to regulatory approvals, including clearance from Colombia’s competition authority. While the exact purchase price was not disclosed, reports indicate the deal will be completed entirely in cash.
