Isaiah Benjamin re-elected as SWAN President

Isaiah Kemje Benjamin and Ikenna Okonkwo have been re-elected as President and Secretary-General, respectively, of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN). The announcement followed the 2026 National Triennial Delegates Congress held in Kaduna.

Benjamin and Okonkwo, who began their current terms in 2023, were returned unopposed for another three-year tenure. The congress also resulted in the formation of a new National Executive Council (NEC) to lead the association. In a contested election for Deputy President, Nyong Bonny Silas defeated Chigozie Chukwuleta with 21 votes to 14.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council issued a statement congratulating Benjamin on his re-election, describing it as a recognition of his professionalism and dedication to sports journalism. The council expressed hope that his second term would foster stronger collaboration between media associations and improve the welfare of sports writers nationwide.
