Isaiah Stewart to miss Grizzlies' season opener with ankle sprain

Memphis Grizzlies center Isaiah Stewart will miss the start of the regular season due to a moderate left ankle sprain. The injury occurred during the first quarter of a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Stewart is scheduled to be re-evaluated in two weeks. This timeline means he will miss the Grizzlies' season opener against the Utah Jazz on October 21, though he may be available for the second game of the season against the Golden State Warriors on October 23.

Acquired from the Detroit Pistons in an offseason trade, the 25-year-old Stewart enters his seventh NBA season. Last season, he averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
