Isaiah Thomas eyes overseas basketball stint after joining Celtics as scout
Former Boston Celtics All-Star Isaiah Thomas has expressed interest in playing professional basketball overseas for at least one season. Despite recently transitioning into a scouting role for the Celtics, the 37-year-old guard indicated on social media that his competitive drive remains intact.
Thomas, who was a two-time NBA All-Star and a key offensive player for Boston during the 2015-2017 seasons, shared his desire to gain international experience and compete in different leagues. He noted that while he is no longer focused solely on high-volume scoring, he aims to transition into a role as a primary playmaker and floor general.
While Thomas has officially begun a career in management as a professional and college scout for the Celtics, he remains open to international opportunities. He has previously expressed openness to various global leagues, including those in Taiwan, as he seeks to continue his professional journey outside of the United States.
