Isaquias Queiroz finishes 9th in C1 1000m at Canoeing World Championships
Brazilian five-time Olympic medalist Isaquias Queiroz finished in 9th place in the C1 1000m event at the Sprint Canoeing World Championships in Poznan, Poland. The race concluded with a tie for the gold medal between Czech athlete Martin Fuksa and Hungarian Daniel Fejes, while Ukrainian Zakhar Tarnovschi took the bronze.
Queiroz attributed his performance to a challenging year involving eye surgery and hip issues that impacted his training rhythm. Despite the result, the 32-year-old athlete is scheduled to compete again in the C1 500m final.
In other results, Brazilian Gabriel Nascimento finished in fourth place in the C1 200m event, narrowly missing the bronze medal by 24 hundredths of a second. The gold in that event was won by Poland's Oleksii Koliadych.
