Isaquias Queiroz finishes ninth in C1 1000m at Canoeing World Championships
Brazilian five-time Olympic medalist Isaquias Queiroz finished in ninth place in the C1 1000m event at the Sprint Canoeing World Championships in Poznan, Poland. Queiroz, 32, struggled with wind conditions and a lack of rhythm during the final.
Queiroz attributed his performance to a challenging year involving eye surgery and hip issues. The gold medal in the event was shared by Czech athlete Martin Fuksa and Hungarian Daniel Fejes, while Ukrainian Zakhar Tarnovschi took the bronze.
Another Brazilian athlete, Gabriel Nascimento, narrowly missed a bronze medal in the C1 200m final, finishing just 24 hundredths of a second behind the podium.
