ISC BIND software faces multiple security vulnerabilities
Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in ISC BIND, a widely used DNS software. The Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) has disclosed several CVEs affecting the software, which include issues such as use-after-free errors, numeric truncation, and resource exhaustion.
These vulnerabilities fall into three primary operational categories: memory safety issues (such as null pointer dereferences and use-after-free) that can cause process aborts, resource exhaustion flaws that lead to service degradation or amplification, and trust-boundary failures involving insufficient verification of data authenticity.
In Japan, the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) and the JPCERT Coordination Center (JPCERT/CC) have issued advisories via Japan Vulnerability Notes (JVN). Users are advised to refer to ISC advisories for specific details regarding affected systems, potential impacts, and necessary mitigation steps.
