Ischia hosts 30km Swim Around ultramarathon

The second edition of the ‘IschiaForYou – Swim Around’ took place on September 25 and 26, featuring a challenging 30-kilometer open water swimming circumnavigation of the island of Ischia. Organized by the IschiaForYou association with support from the Casamicciola Terme administration, the event is considered one of Italy’s most demanding swimming ultramarathons.

In the main solo event, Gianluca Sondali secured first place. He was followed by German long-distance swimmer Christof Wandratsch in second and Laura Volpi in third. The competition also featured solo swimmers from the Seven Master Nuoto club, including Sandra Zoffoli, Federica Bertani, and Nicoletta Biondi, who completed the course in over nine hours.

The event included relay formats such as 3x10,000 meters and 6x5,000 meters, with technical coordination provided by Olympic champion Massimiliano Rosolino. The race drew elite athletes and aimed to promote the local territory through sport and environmental awareness.
