Carabinieri have uncovered an illegal luxury resort complex built in a protected, high-risk hydrogeological area in the Capo Grosso – Scarrupata locality of Ischia, Italy.

Investigations launched in July revealed a systematic effort to evade detection. The perpetrators used a vegetated camouflage net to hide the structure from sea and air surveillance. The construction involved leveling approximately 5 cubic meters of terrain to support a 32-square-meter structure.

To maintain the site, illegal infrastructure was installed, including 120 meters of underground water pipes and electrical connections carved into a natural cave, which served as a clandestine storage area for a generator and an engine. To access the remote site, authorities had to use a naval vessel and approach the coast by swimming, discovering a complex system of iron and wooden stairs carved into the rock.
