Rome pharmacy robberies: 59-year-old arrested after two hits in 24 hours

A 59-year-old man has been arrested by the Polizia di Stato for two armed robberies committed at the same pharmacy in the Ardeatina area of Rome within a 24-hour period.

The incidents occurred on July 31 and August 1 during lunchtime. In the first robbery, the suspect used a black helmet and a knife to steal approximately 700 euros, fleeing on a small bicycle. During the second attempt, he tried to disguise his appearance with white clothing and a different bicycle, but managed to take only about 180 euros.

Investigators identified the suspect through surveillance footage, noting a distinctive bandage on his leg that remained unchanged despite his attempts to disguise himself. The man, a homeless individual known in the area, was intercepted near a bar shortly after the second robbery. Police recovered the stolen cash, a bicycle, and a broken metal stand hidden on his person. He is currently facing charges of aggravated robbery.
