Ischia reconstruction: Professionals and Commissioner clarify fee regulations

Technical professional orders in Naples and Ischia met with Reconstruction Commissioner Marcello Feola to clarify the application of Ordinance no. 43 regarding the reconstruction efforts in Ischia. The meeting aimed to resolve tensions concerning professional fees and the conduct of technical experts involved in the recovery process.

Representatives from the orders of geologists, surveyors, architects, and engineers issued a joint statement asserting that professionals have operated in compliance with national and local regulations. They noted that previous concerns raised by the Commissioner could have been misunderstood if taken out of context. The leaders emphasized the need for fair compensation to ensure the reconstruction proceeds efficiently and to prevent delays in residents returning to their homes.

Andrea Prota, President of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Naples, expressed satisfaction with the dialogue, stating that the Commissioner clarified there are no generalized disputes against technicians. The professionals highlighted the importance of converting expressions of interest into concrete applications to avoid further delays in the reconstruction process.
