IsDBI and IMF hold joint workshop on Islamic banking capital adequacy
The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) and the International Monetary Fund Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (IMF-CEF) held their first joint workshop in Kuwait City. Focused on “Capital Adequacy Implications for Islamic Banks Based on Basel III,” the program addressed regulatory capital frameworks, risk-weighted assets, and financial resilience for Islamic banking institutions. Participants included officials from the central banks and ministries of finance of Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Somalia, Palestine, Yemen, Syria, and Oman.
Separately, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF). As a member of this global network, the CBA aims to collaborate with international regulators to strengthen sustainability and manage climate risks within the insurance sector. The SIF currently includes 40 institutions that regulate approximately 80% of the global insurance market.
