Isengard Industries Receives Funding as Europe Faces Drone Supply Chain Shortage

Backswing Ventures announced an investment in Isengard Industries to expand production of precision‑strike and counter‑UAS systems for the United States and its allies. The new capital will be used to scale manufacturing capacity, grow the contract pipeline and establish a U.S. base of operations, with Florida under consideration.

At the same time, European defence firms are confronting a strategic vulnerability: heavy reliance on Chinese components for drones. Critical parts such as semiconductors, optical sensors and batteries are sourced from mainland China, and tighter export controls risk disrupting production lines. Companies are forced to redesign systems, seek alternative suppliers and absorb additional engineering costs, which could compress margins for mid‑tier contractors.

Both developments highlight growing concerns about the resilience of the defence industrial base and the need for diversified supply chains to meet heightened demand from the Ukraine conflict and broader NATO commitments.
