Isernia political tensions rise ahead of municipal elections

Political tensions are rising in Isernia ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. Within the center-left coalition, the Democratic Party has decided to support the re-election of incumbent Mayor Piero Castrataro. This decision has faced criticism from former council member Francesca Scarabeo, who argued that the choice reflects party logic rather than administrative merit.

Meanwhile, the center-right coalition has yet to reach a consensus on a unified candidate. While Luca Iorio, leader of the civic movement ‘Vento del cambiamento’, has expressed his availability to run, representatives from Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega, Popolari di Niro, and Alleanza per il futuro have not yet granted him full endorsement.
