Isfahan Zakat Council reports 114 billion toman collection

The Isfahan Zakat Council announced that 114 billion tomans in zakat—including obligatory, recommended, and Fitriyah zakat—were collected during the first six months of the current year. This figure represents a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year, despite existing economic and regional challenges.

During a council meeting, Ayatollah Seyed Yousef Tabatabaei-Nejad, the Friday Imam of Isfahan, emphasized the importance of institutionalizing a culture of charity and spending (infaq) within society. He noted that beyond obligatory zakat, broader charitable practices are essential for social support and spiritual purification. He also highlighted the need to reduce economic dependency on foreign imports by developing domestic crop production.

Ghulamhossein Ranjbar, secretary of the Isfahan Zakat Council, stated that zakat funds are being allocated to public interest projects. These include the restoration of traditional qanats (underground water channels) and the implementation of various infrastructural projects in rural areas.
