İSG-BİR urges compliance with safety and fire regulations

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialists Union (İSG-BİR) has issued a warning regarding the necessity of adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Law and the TRNC Fire Regulation. This call follows two recent incidents: a transformer accident at KIB-TEK and a major fire in the Alayköy Industrial Zone.

The Alayköy fire destroyed approximately 600 square meters of various electrical materials. İSG-BİR emphasized that following risk assessment reports prepared by safety specialists is a legal requirement. The union stressed that while laws and regulations exist, strict inspection and enforcement are essential to prevent loss of life and property, noting that without oversight, regulations remain merely ‘on paper’.
