The Isha Foundation has expressed grave concern for the safety of approximately 77 to 80 pilgrims following a massive flash flood near the China-Nepal border. The group, part of a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, was reportedly at the Gyirong Port immigration office when the disaster struck.

Chinese authorities are currently conducting search and rescue operations at Gyirong Port, though efforts were briefly suspended on August 28 due to the risk of subsequent flooding. The Isha Foundation reported that its teams are positioned near the border, with a coordination center in Kathmandu and another approximately 25 km from the site in China.

The missing participants represent 19 different nationalities. The foundation is coordinating with various agencies, including the Nepali Army, the Office of the Prime Minister of India, and Indian embassies in both Kathmandu and Beijing. In Nepal, the devastation is reported to be extensive, with washed-away roads severely restricting movement and access to the affected regions.
