Ishaq Dar discusses Makkah Defence Alliance with Saudi and Turkish ministers

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a series of diplomatic telephone conversations to advance the Makkah Defence Alliance. Dar spoke with Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to follow up on understandings reached during the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee held in Istanbul on August 31.

The Makkah Defence Alliance was established on August 7 by nations concerned by the Middle East war that began on February 28. During his discussions, Dar and Fidan reviewed progress on cooperation under the pact, while Dar and Prince Faisal discussed regional and international developments and mutual interests at multilateral fora.

Additionally, Dar held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty regarding bilateral relations and regional security. The two ministers agreed to remain engaged on security matters and planned to meet on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
