Ishikawa Prefecture suffers heavy rain damage and flooding

Heavy rainfall in Ishikawa Prefecture has caused extensive damage across several municipalities. As of September 7, reports indicate that 574 homes have been affected by flooding, with 168 experiencing above-floor flooding and 406 experiencing below-floor flooding. Hakui City has recorded the highest number of residential impacts with 325 affected properties.

Agricultural damage is significant, with approximately 110 hectares of rice paddies submerged. Additionally, 272 instances of damage to farmland and agricultural facilities have been reported. Infrastructure has also been impacted, including the breach of levees at the Iiyama and Kanemaru rivers, and the ongoing closure of eight road routes due to damage.

In Kanazawa City, a stone wall measuring approximately 4 meters wide and 2 meters high collapsed in the Ogimachi area on September 9. The collapse damaged the exterior walls and windows of an adjacent residence, prompting three residents to evacuate temporarily.

While seven minor injuries have been reported, there have been no fatalities or missing persons reported in connection with the recent heavy rains. Recovery efforts, including volunteer activities and emergency housing provisions, are currently underway.
