Ishinomaki hosts sports and international exchange festivals

Various sports festivals were held in Ishinomaki to promote physical activity, disaster prevention education, and international cultural exchange.

The Sports Festival Ishinomaki took place at Seioku Park Ishinomaki, where approximately 500 elementary school students participated in activities despite rainy weather. The event featured soccer clinics led by former Japan national team player Hisato Sato and former J2 Sendai player Yuki Liang. Additionally, baseball booths provided speed gun measurements and batting practice, while a disaster prevention festival included quizzes and obstacle courses.

Separately, the Ishinomaki International Soccer Festival 2026 was held at Minato Ground to foster communication among foreign residents working in the prefecture. The event brought together 84 participants from five teams, representing Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal, and the Ishinomaki Soccer Association. Organizers expressed a desire to expand the event in the future to include showcases of international food and traditional crafts.
