Ishita Shukla joins Indian armed forces over Bollywood career

Ishita Shukla, daughter of actor and politician Ravi Kishan, has gained public attention for choosing a career in the Indian armed forces over the film industry. In 2023, Shukla joined the defense forces as a Mahila Agniveer under the Agnipath scheme.

Shukla’s interest in military service began during her time as a National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet with the 7 Girls Battalion of the Delhi Directorate, where she participated in training for the Republic Day Parade.

Actor R Madhavan publicly praised Shukla’s decision on social media. Madhavan, who was an NCC cadet in Maharashtra and once considered a military career, expressed his respect for her commitment to national service.
