IShowSpeed and the Obamas partner on Ghana documentary

Streamer Darren Watkins Jr, known as IShowSpeed, is partnering with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions to produce the documentary “The Eyes of Ghana.” The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 28, 2026.

The documentary follows cinematographer Christian Tsui Hesse, who served as the personal cameraman for Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah. Hesse’s work involves preserving over 1,000 historic recordings that document African independence movements from the 1950s and 1960s. The project highlights Hesse’s efforts to safeguard this footage as his eyesight declines.

To introduce the film to American audiences, one-night screenings will be held in 10 U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
