iShowSpeed to perform at 2026 World Cup closing ceremony as Argentine fans threaten

FIFA confirmed that popular American streamer iShowSpeed will appear in the closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be staged in New York/New Jersey before the final on 19 July. He is slated to perform his song “Champions” alongside a line‑up that includes Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and Jennifer Hudson, with production handled by Balich Wonder Studio. The inclusion highlights the growing role of digital creators in reaching younger audiences for major sporting events.

Separately, Argentine supporters have issued a direct threat to iShowSpeed after the streamer was seen wearing the Argentina jersey and was blamed for the team’s loss to Switzerland. Former international Maxi López warned that if Speed appears in Argentine colours at the semifinal in Atlanta on 15 July, he will be assaulted. Despite the warning, iShowSpeed says he will attend the match at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium.
