Isiolo police recover M16 rifle linked to four murders

Security agencies in Isiolo have recovered an M16 rifle believed to be linked to four separate murder investigations across Isiolo and Meru counties. The firearm, found loaded with five rounds of ammunition, was seized during a multi-agency operation in the Kakili area of Burat Location following actionable intelligence.

Investigators suspect the weapon may be associated with Aloise Lochuchu, also known as ‘Akoo’, a bandit recently charged with robbery with violence. Detectives are currently probing the rifle’s connection to several killings reported between January 2025 and February 2026, including the murder of a businesswoman in Isiolo town, a death at Sakama Bar, the killing of a deputy principal in Isiolo North, and a murder in Maili Tatu, Meru County.

The rifle has been secured at the Isiolo Police Station armoury and will be sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic examination to confirm its involvement in these and potentially other crimes.
