ISKCON opens major Krishna temple in Fiji

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has expanded its presence in the South Pacific with the opening of the Krishna-Kaliya temple in Lautoka, Fiji. As the largest Krishna temple in the region, the facility features three gold-plated spires and thirteen Deities, which were designed and molded by craftsmen at the ISKCON center in Los Angeles.

The temple serves as a religious and cultural hub for Fiji’s Indian-descended population and has attracted participants of various races.

Other historical and philosophical records from the movement include teachings by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada regarding the nature of evolution, describing it as the development of consciousness rather than physical change. Additionally, accounts detail the transition of practitioners from hatha-yoga traditions to Krishna consciousness, as well as devotional narratives concerning the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna.
