İskele Half Marathon held for charity

The inaugural İskele Half Marathon, organized by the İskele Municipality under the slogan ‘Every Step is a Future’, brought together athletes and citizens for a multi-category racing event. The competition included a 21K half marathon, a 10K race, a 3K public run, and a 500-meter children's race.

İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu stated that the event serves a social purpose beyond sports, as registration proceeds will fund projects for the Ötüken Special Education and Vocational Training School. Planned developments for the school include an accessible indoor swimming pool, two classrooms, and an Accessible Life and Skill House to support the physical and daily life skills of special education students.

Ferhat Sakallı, President of the TRNC Athletics Federation, noted the importance of international participation in the event. He described the marathon as a significant opportunity to promote the TRNC internationally and to help overcome existing sports embargoes.
