İskenderun maritime activities resume following earthquake recovery

In İskenderun, Hatay, local maritime activities are resuming following infrastructure improvements to the coastline. After the devastating February 2023 earthquakes, the shoreline suffered significant collapses and damage, leaving local sailors without docking facilities for nearly three years.

Ali Mansuroğlu, a 34-year-old boat captain, has resumed operating 30-person boat tours in the İskenderun Gulf following the allocation of new docking areas. Mansuroğlu noted that the destruction of the coast made it impossible to moor vessels for a long period, but the new coastal developments are now allowing for the return of tourism and local livelihoods.
