ISKP uses AI to spread radicalisation ideology in India

The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) is shifting its operational focus toward technology-driven radicalisation in India, according to security officials. Rather than prioritizing physical ground operations, the group is utilizing artificial intelligence to spread ‘Caliphate’ ideology and influence the mindset of the youth toward Sharia law.

Intelligence Bureau officials have noted that this model has already been implemented in parts of southern India, specifically in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The group is now looking to expand this approach to northern regions of the country. Experts warn that the objective is to create a societal shift toward an Islamic Caliphate rather than immediately facilitating terror attacks.

The use of AI presents new challenges for investigators. Security experts highlight that extremist organizations can use AI to produce massive volumes of propaganda and translate content into multiple languages with minimal human resources. There are specific concerns regarding the use of AI-powered chatbots to automate radicalisation processes, which could allow the group to engage individuals at scale while making it harder to trace the source of the activity.
