Iskra shipyard to build new firefighting vessel for Zadar County

Iskra shipyard from Šibenik has signed a contract with the Zadar County Firefighting Community to design, build, and deliver a new firefighting vessel. The contract is valued at 2.24 million euros including VAT.

The project is part of the “Resilient Archipelago” program, which aims to improve the resilience of island spaces in Zadar County and is funded by the European Union. The vessel is expected to be completed and delivered within 12 months.

Designed in collaboration with the Croatian branch of the American company Metal Shark, the vessel is an evolution of Iskra’s previous Search and Rescue (SAR) boat concept. It will be used for firefighting in islands, ports, and coastal areas, as well as providing support to emergency services during crises.
