Isla Mujeres advances street paving and façade painting projects

The municipal government of Isla Mujeres, led by President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, is continuing street‑paving works in the Sac Bajo area, adding a concrete pedestrian crossing and installing speed‑bump devices. Parallel upgrades include the rehabilitation of sidewalks on Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue and the Rueda Medina extension, aimed at improving traffic safety and mobility for residents.

Under the national “Rutas Mágicas de Color” tourism initiative, more than 50 building façades on Jesús Martínez Ross have been painted, part of a target of 120, to enhance the island’s visual appeal and support local tourism. The program is coordinated by the federal tourism ministry (Sectur) together with private partners and the civil association Corazón Urbano. In addition, the new Posadas Izla by Fiesta Americana hotel, featuring 122 rooms with private balconies overlooking the Caribbean, opened on the island, further boosting its hospitality capacity.
