Isla Mujeres beaches earn Playa Platino distinction for fifth year

The beaches of Isla Mujeres have earned the ‘Playa Platino’ distinction for the fifth consecutive year. This recognition, awarded by the Instituto Mexicano de Normalización y Certificación (IMNC), highlights the municipality's commitment to sustainability, cleanliness, and the conservation of natural resources.

During recent evaluations, Playa Norte and Playa Centro received outstanding ratings for being clean, safe, and well-maintained. The certification reflects the daily maintenance efforts of the Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (ZOFEMAT) crews, who perform cleaning tasks in the early morning hours to preserve the area's tourist appeal.

Under the leadership of Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, the local government aims to strengthen Isla Mujeres' position as a destination for responsible and sustainable tourism while ensuring the preservation of its natural beauty for future generations.
