Isla Mujeres Begins Construction of New Malecón Caribe Lookout

The municipal government of Isla Mujeres, led by President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, is finalising work on a new lookout tower at the Malecón Caribe. The structure will provide families and visitors with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and is part of a broader effort to improve urban image, boost tourism and stimulate the local economy.

The project includes public lighting, re‑planting of endemic vegetation and safety upgrades to create an attractive, functional public space.

Gómez Ricalde said tourism remains the island’s main economic driver and the administration will continue investing in such infrastructure to enhance competitiveness and community well‑being.
