Isla Mujeres celebrates 176th anniversary with cultural events

Isla Mujeres is celebrating its 176th anniversary with a series of cultural and culinary activities organized by the municipal government led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde.

Cultural highlights include the "Luz a Través del Tiempo" photography exhibition, which showcases the municipality's historical evolution and landscapes. Additionally, an exhibition of replicas of traditional "Casitas de Madera" is available to help preserve the island's architectural history and cultural legacy.

On the culinary front, the island hosted the "El Cangrejito Playero 2026" gastronomy competition. The event focused on the traditional preparation of ceviche using local ingredients. Five participants received cash prizes totaling 28,000 pesos, with Pablo Enrique Castillo taking first place.
