Isla Mujeres keeps beaches pristine and pushes forward new cultural center

The municipal government of Isla Mujeres, led by President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has continued daily clean‑up operations on the island’s beaches through the Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre (ZOFEMAT). Crews remove sargassum, sift sand and maintain access points, helping Playa Norte and Playa Centro retain the international Blue Flag certification for water quality, safety and environmental management.

Ricalde also inspected progress on the new Casa de la Cultura, a modern facility that will include an auditorium, music and dance rooms, a virtual library, a cafeteria and outdoor spaces. The project is intended to provide a safe, high‑quality venue for artistic, educational and community activities, strengthening cultural life for residents and visitors alike.
