Isla Mujeres implements community service and medical programs

In Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde is implementing several community outreach programs. Through the “ATEndiendo a la Gente” initiative, the local government has brought administrative services and general medical care, including nutrition and psychological guidance, directly to the La Luna neighborhood in the Zona Continental. This program allows residents to access civil registry, cadastral, and legal services without traveling to central offices.

Additionally, the “Especialistas DIFerentes” program, managed by the DIF Isla Mujeres at the Center for Diabetes Prevention and Care (CEPAD), is providing specialized medical services throughout September. These services include audiometry, dermatology, psychiatry, gynecology, and pediatrics, aimed at making specialized healthcare more accessible to local families.

In other regional developments, the Chihuahua State Congress has issued a call for the 2026 Women's Parliament to encourage legislative proposals regarding equality and the eradication of violence. Meanwhile, the organization M de Mujer has released a national directory of 44 collectives across Mexico to help women access information and support regarding sexual and reproductive rights.
