Islamabad authorities detain 212 in illegal call center bust

Pakistani authorities have detained 212 suspects, including Chinese nationals, during raids on three illegal call centers in Islamabad. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted the operations in the E-11 and G-10 sectors to dismantle an international cyber-fraud network.

Investigators report that the suspects utilized “tasking fraud” and “love-dating schemes” to defraud both local and foreign citizens by impersonating Google representatives. During the raids, officials seized 306 mobile phones, 383 computers and CPUs, and 299 monitors and laptops.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the network connections used by the suspects were linked to India and Brazil. The seized digital equipment has been sent for forensic analysis as the NCCIA continues its investigation into the organized criminal activity.
