Islamabad CDA launches waste management plan for rural zones

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced an Integrated Operations & Resource Planning System to manage solid waste in the rural areas of Islamabad, specifically targeting Zones IV and V. The initiative aims to address long-standing neglect in these sectors by providing organized, technology-enabled collection, transportation, and environmentally responsible disposal services.

The plan covers 65 Union Councils, including localities such as Bani Gala and Ghuri Town. Developed in collaboration with a Turkish waste management company, the project will utilize modern machinery and technology-based monitoring to improve cleanliness and environmental sustainability. The CDA Board has approved the plan, which will be implemented through a phased approach starting with these rural zones.
