Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds SDG session and prepares for elections

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is hosting an interactive session focused on UNDP Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) investment projects. ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood emphasized the need to transform development ambitions into high-impact, measurable projects by connecting Pakistan’s young population with capital, technology, and expertise. He highlighted public-private partnerships as essential for national transformation, noting that while the government provides an enabling environment, the private sector is required to bring innovation and scale.

Simultaneously, the ICCI is preparing for its 2026-28 elections. A total of 57 candidates are competing for 28 Executive Committee seats, divided between Associate Members and Corporate Members. The election process includes reserved seats for women entrepreneurs and the subsequent election of office-bearers. Chief Election Commissioner Omar Rafiq stated that all logistical arrangements are complete to ensure a transparent and peaceful polling process.
