Islamabad driverless car prototype crashes into police van

An experimental driverless car crash occurred in Islamabad, Pakistan, during a live demonstration of remote-control technology. The vehicle, part of a project by technology enthusiast Ehsan Zafar, collided with a parked police van at D-Chowk.

Journalist Muhammad Aalijah, who was inside the vehicle for a report, stated that a sudden loss of internet and satellite connectivity caused the technical failure. Because the system relied on external signals for remote operation, the loss of connection left the vehicle unable to respond to commands or stop safely. Aalijah attempted to use the handbrake to prevent the collision, but was unsuccessful. The incident has since gone viral, prompting discussions regarding the safety and testing requirements for autonomous vehicle prototypes.
