Islamabad Police receive 30 new vehicles after 14 years
The Islamabad Police has received 30 new vehicles to be distributed across 27 police stations, marking the first fleet upgrade in 14 years. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry officially handed over the keys during a ceremony at Police Lines.
The new fleet includes electric vehicles (EVs), a move intended to align with government eco-friendly policies and reduce petroleum expenditures. Officials stated that the upgrade is designed to improve police mobility and drastically reduce emergency response times.
This initiative is part of a broader structural overhaul of the capital's law enforcement infrastructure. The government is currently renovating and upgrading all 27 police stations in Islamabad, with construction expected to be completed by the end of the year. Additionally, to address critical manpower shortages, authorities announced the merit-based recruitment of approximately 9,000 new personnel.
